Today is the 3rd day. 12 species out of 24 birds in total were caught. Two new species for this season were Cetti's Warbler (Cettia cetti) and Olivaceous Warbler (Hippolais pallida). Gratifying thing was that the ''Cetti's warbler'' was a control bird ringed in our station in spring 2009!Good news!
On the other hand today was an important day for the Turkey's mammals literature.
Small Five-toed Jerboa (Allactaga elater) was photographed for the first time in Turkey!
It is a species of rodent in the Dipodidae family found in Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, China, Georgia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Russia, Turkey, and Turkmenistan.
The only population in Turkey is known to be living in Iğdır where our station is located.
After a two thrilling night fields, 3 different individuals were photographed close to our station. Thanks to Kasım Kırlangıç, Levent Aydın, Merve Tepe and Soner Oruç for their noteworthy effort.
